Hi Everyone and thanks to Dr. Gardner for providing readers with such invaluable information for our aging pets! I have two 12 year old Labs and I have recently gone totally organic/natural for all their care. Supplements have also become essential for their health and well-being! I visit this site regularly for information plus there is one other site I have recently found www.Organic-Pet-Digest.com that has hundreds of pages of information on organic care for dogs. No matter what my question is, I know I can go there for a reliable answer or reviews of excellent organic products. Just thought I would share my find with this community of loving pet people!

Thanks for posting a very interesting article. Dogs also care deeply as much as dog owners care about them. I also read an interesting article on www.englishbulldogpuppyblog.com that tells why we shouldn’t feed our dogs with chocolate, raisins and grapes.

Vitamins and supplements already came far in helping protect our dogs from diseases nowadays. But these vitamins and supplements have to be accompanied by good dog food. We have to provide our dogs with the right dog food brand since some dog food manufacturers are actually filling their products with unhealthy preservatives. In choosing the right food, vitamins and supplements, we are strengthening our dogs’ immune system.

As far as "oversupplementing" yes it is possible. It is best to get a veterinarians ok if you are going to have your dog on multiple supplements. Many will have similar ingredients and thus can cause an "overload" of certain minerals or electrolytes or vitamins.
